Blog News

A small update to the 'We are Look fashion team and we like food' I have been put on a secondment, turns out MC needed an injection of high street genius. However, fear not avid followers I will be blogging from my new home. *sighofrelief* that is until pesky Eichler kicks me out of that position as well. Nellist

Submission Of The Week: The World's Most Perfect Omelette?

My housemate Jess of Dust PR fame (formerly Yellowdoor) had an omelette for tea tonight, and I have to say, it's the most perfect omelette I've ever clapped eyes on. Made using two free range eggs, reduced fat red Leicester cheese and sweetcorn Jess's top tip for omelette perfection is to think of James Martin whilst whisking the eggs. She hearts him more than Jodie hearts Greg Wallace. And more than me and Kate heart @richardpbacon. Ok, maybe not that much, but the love is still substantial.

Well done Jess.

A Light Lunch

When you've got a large dinner in the diary, it's always a good plan to have a small lunch so you save room. Except of course, when you're in Buckinghamshire, where the recommended daily calorie intake is at least 300 times that of anywhere else in the country, and the lightest thing on the menu is deep fried brie.

Cheese and bacon burgers all round then.

For pudding we reigned it in and had two deserts between the four of us - iced raspberry parfait with lemon curd, meringue and shortbread, and dark chocolate tart with passion fruit sorbet and vanilla cream. Practically Michelin star worthy.

Yet again a lovely lunch at The Betsey 'some old slag' Wynne with Carrington, Tabski and almost ready to pop (due to pregnancy not food) Lizzington.

Then I had the small issue of forcing down some lasagne and flapjacks three hours later. Not.a.problem.

Eichler.

New Housemate

Gibbs house has had a new arrival. It comes in the form of Herbert Herb Pot. He enjoys sunshine and a drink everyday. He'll fit in well here.

Green fingered? Moi? My Horticultural Institute award winning W.I loving grandma would be proud.

Welcome home Herb, Eichler x

Fireside Bistro

Aside from country walks (to country pubs) there is not much to do in Bucks. So today, me and the gals went for lunch. Upon Nic's "the food takes ages but it's amazing" recommendation, we hit up The Fireside Bistro in Buckingham. Way back when this was formerly a cafe which was rumoured to offer a jacket potato and coke (not can of) meal deal, something about a secret code word - obvs for those Bucks residents not interested in country pursuits like our innocent group. Unsurprisingly and luckily for us it got closed down and is now one of the best bistro's in town. I say the best - the other eateries consist of Villiers Hotel, a couple of italians, Dans Kebab Van (food poisoning a speciality) and Roosters kebab house where when you ask for chips and cheese the cheese isn't grated - oh no, it's processed cubes (sick but delish after numerous wines and a night of hardcore dancing in the Granary).

Anyway, Fireside bistro is great. I went for a bacon and stilton salad with a side of curly fries, miss adventurous 2012 Nic went for a prawn baguette and Char had a veggie burger. Energy levels hit an all time high when Char asked for curly fries on top of the chips her burger came with. #carboholic. We went for varying colours of wine, me white, Char red and Nic rose. We thought we were being multicultural but the waitresses must have just thought we were being difficult. Simply.not.true.

Only downside were the toilets which you had to walk up the stairs, past the kitchen and the broom cupboard to. Kind of felt i was in someones house.

All in all highly recommended, and the wait wasn't even long at all - Nic aka Mertle just loves a moan.

More Bucks based posts to come, folks. Eichler x

Ibiza Rocks

SO with big thanks to the River Island massive, (special shout out to Arieta queen of the catwalk Mujay and Melissa strictest person on a shoot ever Collins,) we headed to the white isle for sun, sea, sangria and errr.. pacha.
thats right turns out the rulers of the high street have teamed up with the king of clubland to create a cherry-tastic range.. which lucky for us meant there was a fine excuse to hop aboard club class ( thats right folks, Andrews aint the only one that flys in style.) and jet to Ibiza.

So after a Pacha 8 am bedtime the night before, you know who you are.... lynne McKenna, Dinah Turner, where they'd been partying with the likes of colleen Rooney, (yes she actually left Liverpool) and James Blunt, (turns out he's not as squeaky clean as he looks) there were more than a few sore heads the next day. Unfortunately myself #slavetofashion had to work that night but we more than made up for it the next night when we went KERAZY and me and Jon fell asleep at a spanish bar/wedding. Mark Mills (resident blog photographer) had to ship the casualties home at 5 am, rock and roll.
Jon 'i'm hardcore' Gorrigan showed his manly-ness the next day as we hit the spa for lunch.

Anyway enough about that and onto the food... at first we were given some healthy bird type food

however if you refer back to previous pics, this was hardly the food to nurse our hangovers, so we went for the most delish burgers known to man (after burger and lobster that is), and Veggie Jon (for this read lesser person) had a greek salad.

Palette cleansed by a raspberry and vanilla sorbet, well that was until arieta mentioned a news article about a person eating another mans brains/face at which point iron gut gorrigan had to go for round 2.

All in all an amazing dine but an even more amazing trip, thanks River island, thanks Ibiza and thanks James Blunt,

My Next Breakfast Is...

I have been missing Roast lately (likewise, probs) but thankfully me and Story had a brekkie booked in with Charlotte and Grace from Next. After having pancakes at The Grazing Goat last week (see earlier post), I was well up for comparing the market with Roast's version. Now, Roast's versions were more like mini scotch pancakes as opposed to the American bad boys I'd had last week but i very much enjoyed the rhubarb jam and the 'diet' friendly yoghurt. They were dusted with icing sugar though so I needn't have worried about plummeting kcal intake.

To accompany my brekkie i had a Popeye juice - a refreshing combo of cucumber, elderflower and apple juice - defs recreating that at home.

I was only slightly jealous of Rachel's veggie brekkie and was particularly impressed with her Petro Stofberg 'pose with food' impersonation.

And the other upside was that i was full up til way past lunch (1.10pm). until of course HJH PR delivered ginger bread men to the office and Bryony had a cheese based birthday spread.

Oh, and Pinkberry sent in some salted caramel fro-yo.

That's complex carbs for ya.
